I Am…

Hello, how’s it going? My name is Ellen Judge and the first thing you need to know about me is I am horrible at filling out “about me” sections or giving a “fun fact”. That isn’t to say that I don’t have anything fun about me to tell people, ex: I can walk on my hands. I am creative, confident, energetic, experimental, and every once in a while I have this undeniable need to do something that gets my blood pumping. I am a senior at Drake University studying Magazine Journalism and English. Music is my passion. Whether that is singing along to the radio, listening with blaring in my head phones, or dancing to it at a live show, I could never live without it. I grew up listening to classic vinyl, 90’s bubble gum pop, and classical music so I really don’t have one specific favorite genre. Music has been my solace when my teen angst just got too big or my crush broke my heart, even when I’ve had the best day of my life and just need to dance around my bedroom. That enthusiasm has transferred over to my love of writing about pop culture and what is going on in the world. I grew up in Des Moines, Iowa where I quickly learned that a city is only as exciting as you make it. I have many dreams and goals in life, when I was 9, I wanted to be a veterinarian, when I was 13, I wanted to be Dave Grohl circa 1992, when I started college I wanted to be a teacher, one dream has never changed, I want to write. During my experience at Drake, I have written for many different publications, Drake Magazine, the Times Delphic, The Annual, I even worked for a nonprofit record label writing blog posts.

Through my time at Drake I have adapted and grown into the woman and writer that I am today. I started my journey an education major and am ending it a magazine writer. I finally found the perfect fit my junior year and haven’t looked back.
